Outline of the course:

  • Motivations
  • Kaluza-Klein compactification (one dimension on a circle: scalar, fermion, gauge boson, graviton)
  • Coulomb and Newton’s law
  • Chirality and orbifolds (one dimension on an interval)
  • Generalisations (non-abelian groups, many extra dimensions)
  • Branes and braneworld
  • Large extra dimensions and low scale gravity
  • Experimental signals
  • Warped extra dimensions
