Introduction to Resurgence in Quantum Field Theory

Starting week 16 (14.04.2026) – every Tuesday from 2pm - 4pm in room 119 – ending week 22 (26.05.2026)

Description of the course:

This course will consist of two parts: The first part will cover asymptotic series and how to treat them using resurgent methods. To this end the course will introduce trans-series and study their relation to functions. Along the way resurgence will be introduced as a key concept. The second part will use resurgence methods in a quantum field theory (QFT) setting. For this endeavor we will see how resurgence is related to saddle point methods and how this connects to QFT. We will further study some educational examples.

Learning results of the course:

Upon successful completion of the course students should expect to be familiar with basic resurgent methods and be furthermore able to apply them to a QFT setting.
